Assessment and Reporting

At Marymount Primary School, we believe that effective assessment and reporting are essential to supporting every child's learning journey. Our approach is grounded in transparency, partnership, and a commitment to each student's growth.

Assessment at Marymount is ongoing and multifaceted, designed to provide a clear picture of each child's achievements, strengths, and areas for growth. Teachers use a variety of evidence-based strategies and tools, aligned with the Australian Curriculum, to ensure that every student's progress is measured accurately and fairly. Regular moderation and collaborative planning among staff ensure consistency and reliability in teacher judgements.

We value strong partnerships with parents and caregivers. Throughout the year, families are invited to engage in meaningful conversations about their child's learning. Formal parent-teacher interviews are held twice yearly, providing dedicated opportunities to discuss student progress, celebrate achievements, and set goals for future learning. Additionally, parents are welcome to request meetings with teachers at any time, ensuring open lines of communication and support.

Semesterly Report Cards via The Learning Dashboard

At the end of each semester, families receive a comprehensive report card through The Learning Dashboard on the parent portal. These reports offer a clear overview of student achievement and progress for the reporting period, including:

  • An overall achievement for each learning area, using a 5-point scale (A–E)
  • A level of effort, reported on a 4-point scale (Consistently, Generally, Sometimes, Rarely)
  • Feedback on social skills and the Marymount Learner Dispositions

All reporting is based on a professional judgement of a body of evidence, ensuring that each report reflects the student's true progress against the achievement standards of the Australian Curriculum.

Our assessment and reporting processes are designed to be inclusive and supportive, recognising the unique strengths and needs of every child. Teachers differentiate assessment and feedback to ensure that all students are challenged and supported appropriately.
